Obituary of Nancy Gail Long-Carriger

Nancy Gail Long-Carriger, 66, went to be with her Lord on May 11, 2020, at her home in St. Petersburg, Florida. Nancy was born November 28, 1953 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Vance and Betty Long.

Nancy earned her bachelor of nursing degree from Conners State College, and enjoyed a long and fulfilling nursing career in service to others, particularly veterans. Nancy had a special place in her heart for all veterans. Her respect and admiration for veterans was unyielding and everlasting. Most recently, Nancy was a Registered Nurse (RN) at Bay Pines VA Medical Center, St. Petersburg, Florida, retiring in 2010 after 30 years of service. Throughout her retirement, Nancy continued to volunteer her time to countless Veterans Centers and causes helping America's Heroes.

Nancy was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She treasured her daughter and grandsons, and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as "Grandma." Nancy had a vivacious personality, and always brought a smile and often a laugh to those around her. She made friends everywhere she went, and truly never met a stranger. All who loved her, loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, grace, and undying love.

Nancy will be sorely missed and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Brian Yost, grandsons Joseph and Henry Yost, all of Oklahoma City; former husband and lifelong friend Doug Lozano of Edmond, Oklahoma; sisters Cheryl O'Rourke of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Donna Raybon of Hartshorne, Oklahoma. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Nancy fiercely loved and cared for her family and friends. Her giving heart was so evident to all that knew her.

Family and friends are invited to join us for a memorial service celebrating Nancy's life on Tuesday, May 26, at 2 p.m., Hartshorne First Assembly of God Church, 1235 Pennsylvania Avenue.
