As I sit here this morning reading the TU it brings a tear to my eye upon hearing of Jerry's death.A lot of good memories come to me of the gymnastic practices at the Boy's Club between 5pm-630pm during the week getting ready for shows and meets. My most remembered memory is of Jerry walking on his hands for what seemed to be hours around the Boy's Club.Always treated everyone the same which was very important to a lot of us kids at the club.RIP

Nancy and family, I'm so sorry to read this news. I have been missing you guys and wondering where you went for a long time-- I can't drive past the store site on Columbia Tpk, or see a school bus without thinking of both of you. I'm glad to see you were living in Florida and hope that you have comfort in your rmemories of Jerry and your time in Rensselaer.

I’m so very blessed to know Jerry and family I will never forget the trampoline in the yard and when I brought my 1st bike from him. It was a schwinn five speed with the shifter in the middle of the frame like a car. I had so many wonderful memories of the times spent at your house. I will miss him dearly

We are deeply saddened by the passing of beloved Jerry. It’s good to know he will be meeting up with his granddaughter Rachel. I was telling a friend of mine this evening about Jerry, what he was all about. He was there for who ever needed him. Jim had his common council meeting tonight. After the meeting a few get together and Jim filled them in on the wonders of Jerry, he was more than just a great school bus driver. Jerry will be missed. Rest In Peace Jerry! Your work is done here.....

Before smiles were invented (?), Jerry wore them.... no matter what... he was addressing those he met with a big bright smile... and twinkles in his eyes...
He didn't seem to know the word NO.... He was on board to help with the Kenmore family around him... I wondered how many miles he clocked to the airport, to doctors' appointments, grocery stores, and wherever there was a needy wearied traveller.
He and Nancy were a team....unmatched... They complemented each other.... what one's expertise was... the other filled in the spots assistance... Highly motivated to serve each other and those around.
In these past weeks... family rallied around to be with Popples... I was impressed and witnessed the loving care and sharing...
Jerry will be missed by family and friends... I know I will miss him too. It has been a privilege to know this whole family... Jerry absolutely adored his kiddos..and grandkiddos..

My sincere condolences to the Small Family. Jerry sure was a man who enjoyed people and teaching us kids of the Boys & Girls Club how to have fun and respect others without saying a word. All you had to do was watch him interact with with those around him and it was a life long lesson. There are those of us who still speak of Jerry, the gymnastics and circus and what fun times they were. Thank you Jerry for being a positive part of the lives of the youth of Rensselaer.
