I was privileged to know Sterling while working at MPR, Associates. He was kind and intelligent and admired by everyone who was associated with him. He and his friend Bill Mullett, true inventors, had a great time bouncing ideas around. They almost always had models of some new project on their desks.
He was an elegant southern gentleman. My condolences to his family.

I had the privilege of working with Sterling during his many years at MPR. He was an extraordinarily creative and tenacious engineer, a mentor to young engineers in the firm, and always a gentleman.

I was introduced to Sterling by his wife Jane, who was a good friend and classmate of mine at St. Petersburg High School, during one of our SPHS reunions. I was so surprised, subsequently, to find out that he was first cousin to one of my best friends all through high school, Albert Holland. I had not known him because he lived in Mississippi. It didn’t take long to discover that we had many other things in common—such as, graduates in Engineering, service in the Air Force, stationed at the same time at the Special Weapons Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico (but not knowing each other then), and working in Engineering Research and Development most of our professional careers. My wife Pat and I counted Sterling and Jane as two of our very best friends for most of two decades. We had wonderful times together and will miss Sterling very much. He was, to us, a perfect southern gentleman. James W. OKelley, Jr.

So sorry to learn about Sterling. He was such a nice man. My husband Don Graffam frequently had lunch with him and some other men at the Yacht Club when Sterling was a member there. Sincerely, Irene Graffam
