John Dew was truly an exceptional Christian man. Over three decades he served unselfishly as a Trustee of All Children's Hospital and touched the lives of countless children and their families. John was part of a faithful cadre of St. Petersburg's finest who transitioned the hospital from its beginning as the American Legion Hospital for Crippled Children serving children with polio into the nationally and internationally recognized All Children's Hospital. His legal acumen and sense of purpose made him a strong advocate for the needs of children with complex challenges--from prematurity to organ transplantation. More than once in the growth of All Children's, John was a driving force behind the hospital's faith based physical expansion and teaching and research with the University of South Florida College of Medicine. John was well aware of the hospital's commitment to serve sick children regardless of race, religion, national origin or parents ability to pay. Each time an opportunity to expand services that were "the right thing to do for kids" John and his fellow board members forged ahead. John's legal background and reputation helped open the philanthropic hearts of the community even wider, building upon the American Legion Hospital for Crippled Children's trusted legacy. My association with John was for over 30 years and centered on the growth of All Children's. Whenever an "impossible challenge" arose, John's penetrating question was" is it the right thing to do for children?" His fellow board members committed their time, talent and treasure--and prayers for the children need. All Children's Hospital is only a part of John and Ann Dew's legacy but the children's lives touched are a marvelous tribute to lives well lived. Good bless you and God bless the children!

My prayers and love go to the Dew family. I have been blessed to have made the best friend of my life since 6th grade with Holly. I lost my father at 15 . Daddy Dew was an amazing man , husband and the coolest dad. He always made me feel loved when I was in the Dew home. My home away from home growing up. I have many loving memories of him and the beautiful family that took me in as one of the Dew clan! ❤️ One of the memories of him was when we ( the kids ) would all be on the couch in the awesome TV room watching MTV.he would come down stairs and sit w us sometimes and just be a part of our music and our world ! I love you all so very much and am so thankful and blessed to still have Holly and the Dew family in my life my life. God bless you ! RIP Daddy Dew!

We will remember always and with great fondness the many parties and dinners we all enjoyed in Cullasaja Club in Highlands. We have missed you both this past season. We are sending our heartfelt prayers and love to all of you. May John Rest In Peace and may you all find some comfort in knowing how much he was loved and admired.

i have warm memories of working with John for 14 years. He, among the other partners of Harris, Barrett, Mann & Dew taught me to practice law. John was my mentor, my partner and my friend. I have warm memories of him sitting there behind his roll top desk just as in the picture displayed with his obituary. He was a wonderful Christian man, a man’s man and a lawyer’s lawyer. His pain is now gone. He has cast off that old tired body and entered into the presence of his Lord. Our Lord. God bless you John. Yours was a life well lived.

I only got to John while he was in the NC mountains, but it became apparent he was a man who loved Christ and enjoyed mentoring and encouraged others. And what a sweet spirit. He was a pleasure to be around. May Jane and his family rejoice in and celebrate his life and legacy. Steve and Dianne Robinson.
