Obituary of Nancy Shepard

Nancy Kelley Carr Shepard, 87, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away peacefully after a short illness on February 7th at Bayfront Hospital.  Nancy was born to Harlan Bradley and Dorothy Kelley Carr on February 16th, 1935 in Syracuse, New York.  She married Robert Gordon Shepard in Syracuse, New York on January 28th, 1956 and they had seven children.

She is survived by sons Robert G. Shepard Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Highlands Ranch, CO; Kelley N. Shepard of Carthage NY; Michael A. Shepard and his wife Claudia of St. Petersburg FL Bradley R. Shepard of Syracuse NY and a daughter, Amy M. Sullivan of West Springfield MA. Nancy was pre-deceased by a son James M. Shepard and a daughter Cynthia A. Johnson, which she believed was the most tragic event that could happen to a mother. She was a much-loved Nana for 9 Grandchildren, and adored her first Great Grandchild, Jack Kelley Martin.

Nancy was a native of Syracuse, NY and she considered it her hometown, having spent the vast majority of her life there, with a brief stay in Vermont..  She eventually chose to spend her retirement in St. Petersburg, FL where a contingent of her children lived. Nancy imbued her love of reading, travel, education, and boating onto her children and grandchildren, but her greatest joy in life was just spending time with them.

The Family will be celebrating Nancy’s life at a memorial ceremony held in Syracuse the first weekend in June…… Please send an email to CelebratingNancy@bobandbon.com to be added to a mailing list to receive the details when they are distributed.
