Obituary of Lois Conover Scarbrough
Lois Conover Scarbrough, devoted mother and Christian, was born January 19, 1931 and passed August 12, 2022 at the age of 91.
Born in Red Bank, New Jersey (Colt’s Neck), she Attended Atlantic Township Grammar School and graduated from Red Bank High School in 1948. She went on to graduate from Bixby Business School after moving to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1948.
She married her late husband, Henry Martin Scarbrough on September 24, 1954.
Lois worked in Insurance Sales with McEachern Insurance Company in St. Petersburg and was President of the Insurance Woman’s Organization of St. Pete.
She was also an active member of:
St Petersburg Junior League
St Pete Junior Women’s’ Club
President of PTA at Riviera Middle School.
Woodlawn Presbyterian Church since 1954 where she served as an Elder.
Lois was a devout Christian, she attended Bible Study Fellowship for many years along with other Bible Studies. She loved to travel with her husband in the US and Europe. She also loved traveling in their motorhome. Lois enjoyed boating, bowling, and visiting the mountains in Western North Carolina.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Martin Scarbrough, her parents Charles Cox Conover and Marjorie Conover, two brothers and a sister, and one grandson.
She was survived by her daughters Marcia Connell of Lake City, CO, Linda Weaver-Monda (husband Perry) of Hiawassee, GA, Debbie Safko (husband Mark) of St Petersburg, FL. Marti Pawloski (husband Ron) of Ormond Beach, FL, eight grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren.
Services will be held at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, Saturday August 27, 2022 at 2:00pm followed by a reception. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Good Shepherd Hospice in Murphy, NC. Or Woodlawn Presbyterian Church in St Petersburg.
