Michael Buckley

Obituary of Michael Brian Buckley

The Man, The Myth, The Legend, and Go Tigers! Michael B. Buckley, of St. Petersburg, passed away on November 5, 2023. Born July 3, 1957, in Hackensack, New Jersey, he was one of six children of the late John and Anna (Gavin) Buckley, Sr. Michael attended Corpus Christi Catholic School, then Hasbrouck Heights High School where he excelled in academics and sports, in particular, baseball. Michael attended college at Rutgers University where he majored in Political Science and was a pitcher on the Baseball Team. He kept on becoming a member of The Yankee Clippers AAA Minor League Baseball Team. After graduating Rutgers University, he attended New York Law School. He was a member of Law Review and graduated in the top 5% of his class. It was at Law School where he met his wife, Eunice, and became engaged to her. After graduating, Michael moved to Miami and worked at The Corlette Killian Law Firm, a prominent Defense Law Firm. It was there he honed his skills in becoming a Trial Lawyer. Michael returned to New York in 1985 and got married to Eunice in 1986. He continued his career as a Trial Lawyer at Kelley, Drye, and Warren. Eunice and Michael decided to return to Miami in 1987 as a family with Angelina and John. Michael and Eunice had their third child, Michelle. As the children got older and Miami became more hectic, they decided to move to St. Petersburg, Florida where they eventually started their own firm, Buckley Law Group, P.A. with offices in three states: Florida, California, and New York and an auxiliary office in Texas. Michael continued as a prominent Trial Attorney and advised many Lawyers, eventually retiring in 2022. He consulted on an ad hoc basis until his passing.

Michael loved life. He was an avid angler, boater, skier, and jogger. He was generous to a fault and had great compassion for humanity.

Along with his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his brother, John Buckley Jr.

He leaves to mourn his passing Eunice Cooke Buckley, Angelina Lipman, John J. Buckley, II, and Michelle Johnson; his grandchildren, Remington, Juliette, Cameron, Valencia, and Travis; his siblings, Patricia Miller, Carol Truillo, Bonnie Mihalic, and Barbara Menoutis; along with a host of In-Laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and colleagues.
