Obituary of Donald Richard Saroka
Donald Saroka, 87, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on December 27, 2023. Don was born on May 25, 1936 in Worcester, MA, the son of Mary and joseph Soroko. Following graduation from Long Beach High School, he served in the army in Germany from 1953-1956. After his service, he returned home to MA where he met and married his wife, Alice in 1960. They relocated to the Tampabay area where he worked as a manager of RSVP Auto Parts for many years, followed by years working at Bill Beggs Auto Parts and Starkey Road Auto parts.
Don was passionate about veterans affairs. He was a long time member of the VFW Post 6827, where he held the positions of Commander and Quartermaster. He was also a member of the Elks Grand Lodge and a 32 degree mason with the Scottish Rite of Free Mason (Nitram Lodge).
He leaves his wife of 63 years (Alice), four children (Susan, Joseph, Richard, Anne Marie), five grandchildren (Valerie, Brandon, Megan, Katie, John), ad six great-grandchildren (Hope, Lauren, Emma, Peter, Owen, and Nate).
He was predeceased by his mother (Mary Bogigian), father (Joseph Soroko), stepfather (John Bogigian) and sister (Theresa Tersa).
Don will be remembered and missed by many for his sense of humor and kindness.
