Obituary of Kenneth H Young

     Kenneth Holmes Young, 86, of St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Bath, Maine left this earthly plane to be with his Lord and Savior on January 10, 2024. After a brief battle with an aggressive cancer he was able to pass pain free with his wife by his side.

 

     Known as Ken to many, he was born in Mineola, NY to Frank & Erma Young and attended public schools in Merrick, NY. He graduated from Adelphi University and attended Princeton Theological Seminary. He was ordained as a Presbyterian Minister in 1962. He served churches in Dunn’s Corners/Westerly, RI, First Presbyterian Church in Haddonfield, NJ, Covenant United Presbyterian Church in Frazer/Malvern, PA.

 

     Maine was chosen for retirement due to his many happy memories at Bay Point. He co-owned the Hobby Shoppe in Bath, Maine, and continued to serve in many pastoral capacities there and later in Florida. He eagerly participated in community activities and supported many nonprofit organizations including, Meals on Wheels, Sequin Island Lighthouse, and historic organizations. He had a passion for listening to people’s stories and a gift of connecting on a personal level.

 

     He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Edwards) Young, daughters, Rebecca Crosson (Neal), Elizabeth Young (Robert Lane), Martha Malana ( Anthony), adopted son, Reginald Young, Grandchildren, Daniel ( Jessica), Ethan, Chadd & Levi Crosson, Hannah (Zac) & Emma Lane, Aidan & Preston Malana. One great grandchild Sienna Crosson as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

     A Celebration of Life service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at 701 Beach Drive NE, St Petersburg, FL on Sunday January 14th at 2pm. A graveside service will be planned for late spring in Maine.
