Betty Watson

Obituary of Betty Cann Watson

Betty Cann Watson died peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on January 17. Born in St. Petersburg in 1927, Betty was active and engaging through her 96th year, frequently sharing kind words and expressions of love with her family, friends, and new acquaintances alike. She was dedicated to her family and proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church and lived her faith generously, encouraging and listening to anyone who needed a caring friend. She loved to travel, garden, and study scripture, and she also dabbled in drawing, painting, and ceramics—her children and grandchildren cherish the meaningful gifts she made for them.

Betty is predeceased by her parents, Lena and C.V. Cann, her husband, William L. Watson, her sister, Gloria Cann, and her son, Jerry L. Watson. She is survived by her son John L. Watson and his wife Donna, her daughter Joyce W. Nutta and her husband Giorgio, her grandchildren Kimberly (Nils) Steika, Jessica Watson, Francesca (Troy) Scrimgeour, Robin (Kevin) McCarley, and Marco (Mirai) Nutta, as well as her great grandchildren, Elise and Benjamin Steika and Junné and Hugo Nutta.
