Obituary of Rose Notaro
Notaro, Rosalie, “Rose,” passed away January 17th just weeks after celebrating her 94th birthday on Christmas Day.
Born and raised in Buffalo, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Crage and Violet Merritt Stark; and her brother Gerald Crage and her son Duane Notaro. Rosalie is survived by her husband of 75 years Sebastian; children Gerald Notaro, Darlene Bowers, Cheryl Schmied, and Lauren Notaro Smith, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Rose and Sibby (Sebastian) spent their years in Buffalo building Notaro Roofing Company that Sibby ran for over 35 years, while Rose also bought real estate, operated several businesses, and was active in local politics. She and her family spent their summers at their beloved summer home Rosewood in Bay Beach, Ontario. She and Sibby began wintering in St. Petersburg in the late sixties and after raising their five children bought a condo in St. Petersburg where Rose had more time for her needlepoint, cards, reading, the beach, the pool, and entertaining snow birding friends and family.
Family visitation from 3-4 on Monday, January 22 at Anderson McQueen, 2201 Dr. M.L. King Street North in St. Petersburg. Family and friends visitation, 4-6. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 23 at St. Jude the Apostle’s Our Lady’s Chapel, 5815 5th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710 at 9:30 AM, followed by Internment at Royal Palm South Cemetery. Rosalie’s family will then host a luncheon in The Harbor Room at Addington Place at College Harbor where Sibby and Rosalie have resided for the last four years.
