Rosemarie Rizzo

Obituary of Rosemarie Rizzo

Rosemarie Rizzo, born in Brooklyn, New York on February 24, 1930, officially gained her angel wings and met Jesus on February 6, 2024. She is preceded by her loving Husband, Salvatore Rizzo, her brother, Joseph Sarro and her parents, Anna and Anthony Sarro.

She is survived by her large family of 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who love and miss her deeply.

Rosemarie loved the Lord and was an active congregant of Holy Family Church for over 65+ years, volunteering in the food pantry weekly and serving the church in any way she could. She was a proud member of the Council of Catholic Women for 55+ years, the Beta Sigma Phi Chapter for 40+ years and the Red Hat Society.

Rosemarie, our Mama, had a love language like no other. Quality time was one of her favorites as she hosted Sunday night dinner for all 30+ family members. She picked up her grandchildren everyday from school and watched them over the summers. She was at every party, event, recital, sporting event, graduation, etc. making sure everyone knew they had her love and support.

She loved and she loved hard. Her husband was the love of her life. They did all things together. Dancing was a favorite and they competed in many competitions together. They shared a love for Frank Sinatra and passed that same love down to their kids and grandkids. Rosemarie and Salvatore were married for 41 years before his passing in 1990. Every day since, Rosemarie wore both her wedding ring and his. We find peace in knowing they are finally reunited together in the pearly gates of Heaven.

Mama was the light of people’s lives. She never met a person she didn’t like and vice versa. She was the type of woman that would give the shirt off her back and the shoes on her feet to a person in need. If someone was sick, you could bet you would receive a phone call checking on you with hot soup on your doorstep. Mama cared deeply for the ones she loved and will forever remain in the hearts of many.

Rosemarie’s visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00pm at Anderson McQueen (2201 Dr MLK Jr St, St. Pete). Her service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church (200 78th Ave NE, St. Pete) on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rosemarie can be made to Pinellas County Animal Services as she loved all animals or Suncoast Hospice where she received the best care in her final days. Rosemarie was a bright light in many lives, so we ask that you wear her favorite color, pink, in honor of her.
