Obituary of Jim Hill

Jim Hill was born August 1, 1943, in Pascagoula, MS to Ruth and Leo Hill.

He was raised outside of Knoxville, TN where he lived until joining the Navy at 18. After completing his service to our country, he started a career with IBM that would span over 30 years and take him to Atlanta, GA; Alexander City, AL; and St. Petersburg, FL. After retiring from IBM he went on to have another successful 14-year career at EMC and finally two years a SMS before retirement. He was the National Atlantic Fleet Pistol Champion in the Navy, as well as a Golden Glove Boxer. Jim was capable of fixing everything from an inboard/outboard motor, to car engines, electrical, plumbing, and everything in between. He was a handyman extraordinaire!

He married the love of his life, Evelyn in 1976 and they were blessed with over 47 years of marriage. On February 14th, 2024 he passed away peacefully at the home he shared with his wife and granddaughter, Breanna New. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Hill; his sons, Rick and Randy Hill; his daughters, Torrie Williams and Tia LaJoie; and many grandchildren. Jim was a caring husband, father, and papa. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Breanna New, Tyler New, Kaylee Williams, Tate Hill, Emily Hill, and Reece Hill. He was a lover of boating, golf, hunting, football, and live music, especially country and bluegrass. Jim was a man of faith and an active member of Northside Baptist Church.

Friends and family of Jim Hill, we will be getting together after the services on Monday, February 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 at the armory located at 3601 38th Avenue South, St Pete, FL 33711. We would love to have everyone join us!
