Rosemary Orr

August 7, 1921 – February 1, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Rosemary Orr, 102, of Saint Petersburg, Florida on February 1, 2024. Born on August 7, 1921 in Syracuse, NY, Rosemary found the good in everything and everyone. She blessed her family and friends with her kindness and a deep, steadfast love marked by her unwavering faith. In addition to her mother Miriam Cushnic and father Paul Cushnic, Rosemary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth B. Orr, her brother Alan Luckman, and first born, Robert K. Orr.

Along with being a devoted mother and raising four children, Rosemary worked for many years as the school secretary at Cicero Elementary School while also selling Sara Coventry Jewelry and working as a waitress. After moving to Florida, she loved being a nanny and closed out her career days as an operator taking orders by telephone at Home Shopping Network.

Rosemary was a gracious host and always welcomed visitors with a new box of assorted chocolates. Giving to others fulfilled her. She also loved swimming, playing bridge, and traveling. She documented all of life’s moments, big and small, by taking pictures. If you knew her, she most likely had a photo of you. She cherished her time spent alongside those she loved and fondly reflected on her many photographs, proudly displayed in her home.

Rosemary is survived by her children, Robin Orr Burlingame of Clearwater, FL, Randy (Susan) Orr of Lewisville, NC, Dawn (the late Jon M.) Smith of St. Petersburg, FL, and daughter-in-law Beverly Thomson of Syracuse, NY; grandchildren, Paula (David) Haefner, Jennifer (Kevin) Compton, Maria Mousseau, Kim (Alex) Craddock, Darrell Burlingame, and Kathlene Burlingame; great-grandchildren, Taylor Falkner, Kenley Compton, Brooks Compton, and Caden Compton; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Gracing this earth for over a century, Rosemary's generosity and glamorous spirit have left behind an impactful legacy. She will be deeply missed, and we take peace in knowing that she is enjoying a heavenly reunion with her loved ones. Until we meet again, she will be forever in our hearts.

A graveside service is being planned for Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse, NY. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at Drumlins Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choosing.
