Obituary of Jeanne Wallace Daniels

Jeanne Wallace Daniels, 95, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, after a brief illness at the Hospice Care Unit of Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. Jeanne was born in Davenport, Iowa and later moved to Clearwater, Florida with her mother and three siblings. She graduated from Clearwater High School. She attended Florida State College For Women in addition to a nursing program at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. She graduated with an RN degree in 1945. She married Virgil C. Daniels, Jr. in 1946 and they moved to St. Petersburg. They raised four children together. Jeanne was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She was first of all devoted to her family. In retirement, Jeanne and her husband, Virgil, enjoyed travel in the US and abroad, hiking and other outdoor activities. After her stroke in 2002 at the age of 79, Jeanne joined the St. Petersburg YMCA where she made many wonderful friends and enjoyed her water therapy sessions. Jeanne preceded in death by her parents; husband Virgil, of 56 years; brother Robert Wallace; and sister Marjorie Grant. Surviving are four children, Virgil C. III (Shirley) of Castle Rock, CO; Robert W of St. Petersburg; Douglas R. of Arizona; and Donna J. of Carrboro; brother Camercon Wallace (Ruth) of Homosassa, FL; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. All are invited to attend a reception with family to celebrate and honor Jeanne's life at Anderson-McQueen Funeral home at 2201 Dr. MLK St. N St. Petersburg, FL 33704 on Saturday, March 17th from 4:30-6:30 pm. Memorials may be made to Jim and Heather Gills YMCA of St. Petersburg or Suncoast Hospice of St. Petersburg.
